King Of Fools
King of fools
I) The closing
I’m tired of hearing my own words
Used as arms against my kingdom
The empty wisdom that I preach
Has stopped making sense to me
So be careful with your head
I’m closing the doors behind you
Don’t try recalling what I said
But turn off the light around you
II) The next fool
No more opening the doors
No more losing sight of keys
And feeling things could be
Forever or a moment
Like I wished they would be
The next fool like me
Can break his head against the wall
And hope to stumble and hope to crawl
From the emptiness I bestow
The next fool like me
Can burn away his dreams of youth
And hope to forget and hope to escape
From my blind indifference
III) My kingdom
In my kingdom beyond caring
I will stand idly by and watch
The tears that others cry
And the suffering and the pain
And the foolishness to try
To break through these walls
And storm through these halls
Without seeing how they are empty
Without noticing they are silent
And someone who’s long forgotten
How to continue in the morning
Or rest lightly in the night
